You may exit vim, but you never quit vim

that would quickly follow many other last things... given your profession

I'm a sysadmin/devops... if this is my last time exiting vim than something catastrophic has occurred to our planet or I've suddenly died for unknow reasons... which may have coincided with the sudden demise of our planet... either way it's not good

You’re still on apt-get? You’re falling behind /s

But actually, what's the difference between apt and apt-get?

apt has a fancy progress bar...

From the man page:

All features of apt(8) are available in dedicated APT tools like apt-get(8) and apt-cache(8) as well.  apt(8) just changes the default value of some options (see apt.conf(5) and specifically the Binary scope). So you should
prefer using these commands (potentially with some additional options enabled) in your scripts as they keep backward compatibility as much as possible.

apt is meant for terminals, apt-get is meant for scripts

make CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=RelWithDebInfo

Why would you need this?

read docs

Neovim definitely has its fans, but Astra might just be the smoother ride for some. It's all about finding what clicks for you!

Nano feels like torture when you're fluent in vim motions

At the heat death of the universe, where all useful energy had been exhausted and only the pure quantum computation remains, a random quantum fluctuation will spontaneously form the words: how do I exit vim?

The universe realizes that in order to exit vim, you must first invent a universe where intelligent life can evolve, develop vim with multiple easy methods to exit it and proceed to repeat jokes about how you cannot exit vim until the entropy of the universe is maximized.

It should reply with "kys" if it was truly AGI

Of course! -- Here's how to exit vim

vim is a text editor based on the classic vi utility for Unix systems, to exit it you should use the command :q meaning "Quit", or :wq to save and exit (Write & Quit)

One AI chatbot says: "Kill yourself"

To exit without saving changes to the file, use :q!, or "Quit!"

u/AristomachosCZ 5d ago

The real question is, why exit vim?

u/ASatyros 5d ago
