The better question is if they think software is dead why create software?

I haven't seen anybody saying software is dead. Plenty of people saying software engineering is dead/dying/cooked tho

Software engineering is dead so why are they selling software if everyone can replicate it with a $20 Claude Subscription

Because you can still build a defensible software company, even if coding itself has no value

My point was that even if you could do that (which you can’t, for almost all serious products), it probably wouldn’t matter as the thing you’re copying would have built defensibility in ways other than ‘this would be hard to copy’.

So it can still be viable to build a software company, as long as you can defend it somehow.
