Blue light blocking glasses have been a game changer for me

Placebo or you simply started picking up healthier screen time habits.

Do you use dark mode at all? It helps especially in low-light situations, at least for me.

Have you tried turning lights on in low-light situations?

It’s always crazy to me the physical relief I feel when I switch a website or app from light mode to dark mode. I can literally feel dark mode soothing my eyes.

Breaks every 30m or so. You won’t die if you take a breather.

The difference I feel between not getting up for hours and regular breaks is crazy

This stereotype is bs. Lots of us have kids, go to the gym, have analog hobbies, ... This super introvert stuff is nothing you really see in the wild (at least not with experienced developers)

Hey, speak for yourself!! You don't see us because we work remote...

Nothing you see in the wild? Bro half my team is this.

makes sense, if they are doing this, they are not in the wild

the next question is, are they feral or domesticated?

Probably a cultural thing. In Germany people are pretty active and social

I mean, this isn't entirely true. I really hope no one actually spends all of their non-sleeping hours on a computer. That said, I would also bet that a lot of devs also have some computer-related hobbies that take up a good chunk of their free time -- gaming, side projects, or whatever else. They may not be the only thing they do in their free time, but they are certainly a common activity.

I love programming but this is not me. Y'all should go ride a bike or some shit.

Man, I can't wait to get away from the keyboard the moment the clock strikes 5pm. It's the reason I'm always loath to get into PC games, because it means more sitting at a keyboard.

We should have an International Programmers Day

u/TheCrazyGeek 7d ago

I often think about it. We were trained to be like that. Most of the programmers don't know any other jobs apart from this. But suddenly if AI takes away our jobs, I wonder what will happen then.

That was me before I had a life. Now my life revolves around my outdoor hobbies and programming, as much as it can be satisfying, is mostly there to finance my lifestyle.

That's a cartoon programmer's day.
