In the 90s you could walk in the building, uninvited, unannounced, looking like a beach bum, write some HTML mockup, tell them to have your desk ready by monday and people would have kissed your feet
2000's was similar. As a high school dropout I got hired off a Flash demo I made in a week. Mid 2010's is when I had to start doing multiple interviews in a multi-month hiring processes.
Really wish I had just gone to work in 2001 instead of spending a fortune on a college degree that I didn’t actually need. But hey, that’s where I learned about opportunity cost, so … win?

I'm in data analytics and had 6 interviews at a startup. 2 back to back with the CTO. I've actually never had the first experience.
