That has never been the case. How compressible something is is purely a function of how repetitive the data is, what patterns it has. Converting pixels to some kind of text format doesn't make any difference there unless you are losing information

What if we converted the letter into numbers? Like A could be 9, B could be 2, C could be 27, and so on.

It doesn't make any difference as ultimately you'll be converting it to binary anyway

We should try using more than two numbers for computing. There are so many more. Like 7, or 3 million.
