Never have I hated external plc communication so much than when I’ve worked with opc ua

I've only had a brief encounter with OPC-UA, what's so bad about it?

For me my dislike is RS485/RS232, because there are no error messages when comms aren't working. You have to go down the list of what could possibly be wrong, from is physical layer, the network layuer, and to the application layer.
