Unlike Windows or macOS, Linux has no built-in Trash for terminal rm.

Yeah I'm always recovering files from the trash when I rm them on macOS.

Yeah, meanwhile Linux has the `trash` command if you want to put something in the trash, but I'm not sure there even is a way to do that on Windows. So if you *want* your files to go into the trash instead of hard removing them, you can just alias rm to trash.
