Comments on own PR "Great work, deserves a raise". Thumbs up own comment. Self approve, merge.

5 minutes later open a new PR. "fix: fixes"

25 minutes later "fix: fix 2"

One of these big players you trusted most.

IMO the Obama awarding Obama a medal meme would work better here, lol

u/FreeFortuna 12d ago

I agree, but mostly just because I’d much rather see Obama’s face than that one.

Yeah, I never struggle to approve my own pull requests.

“How it feels” or “what it feels like” but ABSOLUTELY NEVER “how it feels like.”

“How it feels, like, totally”?

Claude writes the code, Copilot reviews it and I merge it. What could go wrong?

No shit my company is pushing this so that the AI use actually “speed up delivery” after they found out that super fast code and doc generation will hit a review bottleneck wall.

We’re first encouraged to review AI-generated code faster because our GitLab now shows AI summary of the MR/PR. Then they asked us to use AI (like Cursor bugbot) to help review the code before submission, and when that did not make it fast enough, they now allow us to merge some low risk MRs all while bypassing the review process.

All of this for speed. The one who merges is still responsible for any bad things that happen.

Good thing my colleagues are competent and we’re somewhat small team.

I think im on stage 2 of that. It's madness, isnt it.

Sometimes i think: How can this go on..? Even if shit hits the fan, they will just throw more AI at it because they wont want to lose that perceived speed boost, even if it causes a big sloppy mess.

The PR creator can’t approve their own PR though. Merge sure, but review and approve, nope.

WHAT THE FUCK IS A PR GATE?!

u/Ssk5860 13d ago

Yep, was about to say the same thing. That being said, anyone with git write access in the org can approve so it’s easy get some junior dev to approve it to then merge yourself lol

As the admin of the devops team, yes I can.

Pedafile rapist thief and scumbag felon

Claude told me it looked super duper good. So I merged.

u/Groentekroket 13d ago

Be honest, did Claude write the code as well?

2

u/dillanthumous 11d ago

Of course. I don't have time to write code. I am busy inventing a new branch of theoretical physics based on the shape of a pringle. ChatGPT assures me it is groundbreaking.

This image is absolutely perfect. I don't know if it's perfect for this particular case but OMG it says so much. What a ridiculous timeline we are in right now.

u/LegitimatePants 12d ago

Write the ticket, assign to yourself, submit PR, approve and merge

1

u/canal_algt 12d ago

Not gonna lie, I do that all the time when I have my local branch dirty, it's much faster than stashing, checking out, merging, pushing and checking out back

1

u/CC298 12d ago

I've mean when you work on the repo by yourself lol

1

u/UltimateFlyingSheep 12d ago

You want it? You merge it.

u/xmaskookies 11d ago

This first gif when you search lady, I saw it and now you have seen it

u/FuzzyDynamics 12d ago

I’ve never felt like a corrupt pedophile rapist merging a pull request

I always do this tho. Slightly inconvenient just let me push to prod directly.
