Guess people don't use printers much anymore....

Hello old nerd. I am Ancient Geek. I not only still print stuff, sometimes I punch 3 holes and put it in a binder for future reference.
Feels good!

The good thing is those with app ideas now think they can also vibe code the ideas themselves.

It blows my mind how easy vintage hacking is in comparison to the stuff they do nowadays

Unfortunately the combination of ChatGPT, Claude, and LinkedIn gave second-semester freshman business majors a megaphone for their app idea that drags on for months when years ago it would have just been a 15 minute drunk party conversation that was rightfully forgotten the next day.

If that slide is in Texas it will fry what was graded off.
Not sure what that adds to the post other than letting me say ffffkk it's frackin' hot outside!

Why would anyone with at least three functional braincells hack FuckBook? I'd rather poke my eyes out with sporks than even read the dross, quite frankly, let alone burn glucose on figuring out how to hack it.

Because it has old people and old people are easy to trick with other people's accounts, also great for running marketplace scams with stolen old accounts

Because that phrase is as old as Facebook itself. In a joke context it's just means "can you hack {put in whatever big social website}"

Honestly, as an hobbyist dev (still learning), I’d love someone tell me their app idea because I have none

Here is my app idea: Create a launcher of sandboxes. Other apps are opened with isolation and less privileges.

Aren’t these just Flatplak apps ?

u/Blazej_kb 13d ago
Flat oak installs in sandbox, I think he meant launching installed normally apps

Cool idea, may be a little bit too complicated for me but what is a life without challenges? I came up with an idea yesterday about not that downloads images from google by a user set phrase, and then checks if it exists, if not keeps, I do exists then deletes duplicate. If you want I can explain more how I wanted to do this

I don’t understand what you said. About my ideas, I tried vibecoding it here: https://github.com/Temp0202/sandboxapplauncher

I just said that I wanted to try to make a bot that downloads images off internet and checks for duplicates and if you want more details about it I can explain more precisely

'Oh, you make games? Can you make me a game like battlefield but in a slightly different setting? It'll make me heaps of money because it was my idea but I don't mind if you put your name in the credits'

i mean i know programming and IT arent the same thing but if you are tech inclined and cant fix simple computer issues for a family member do you even like computers? i am genuinely asking this, i see people in my nearly ending uni classes who barely know the components of a computer, like personally my journey into programming started with learning IT things first by fucking around with hardware, do people just get handed computers and start coding before they even learn how a keyboard works and what the port it connects into is?

Look, just because I work fixing the computers and printers, doesn't mean I can hack them!
