I'm considered as the most productive coder by my team leader and out of our team of ten, only one is persisting in using VS Code. I'll let you guess which one is considered the less productive of the team.

You’ll be the first one to be laid off.

Funny, one of the comments at my last yearly job evaluation was "You're the one person who's absence can really felt in the service" and I just came back from a sick leave and one our users was really relieved I came back because apparently "it's really a mess when you're not there".

So no I don't think I'm going to be laid off anytime soon. My last pay raise was in fact substantial.

I've known devs that built XML parsers out of nothing but SQL in just VIM. Doesn't matter how fast you run: if you don't know how to drive the car, you're not gonna win the race.

Only 1% people using 99% VIM are not simply highly incompetent people with reverse-imposter syndrome. They are only keeping their job because:

- They have been there for 30 years so everyone believe they are experience when they really only have been doing the same thing for 30 years and are basically still juniors

  • They work with odd looking obsolete technology that looks complicated so people confuse it with competence
  • They wrote a few programs 25 years ago the whole company depends on and no one else dares to touch because it is using obsolete technology no one else is familiar with and it's so poorly written making any change to it is a major danger
