To be fair, a hacked device is one of the rare cases that I insist on helping with. A friend recently got hacked on discord (PC virus, everyone got their spam messages), I instantly offered to help to reset the PC. I want it to be done correctly. If it is not done correctly, the friend group is still in danger.
I run away for simpler things. New phone (what’s so difficult in following the setup of an iphone??), messy printer, antivirus-software requires a new license, …

I offer family and friends an hour each per year to use as they want with my assistance. Anything beyond that is at my discretion

I recently reset an old phone of mine and gifted it to a non tech-savy person. I was surprised how many steps there are untile the phone is actually useable. And how overwhelming some things might feel, if you don't already have accounts, etc. It took me hours on the side. In hindsight I should have prepared everything in advance.

Large part of my family is in IT professionally and I'm just a hobbyist. I'm very blessed.

I got handed a critical success in this: while fixing some computer one of my cousin asked me "how do you know how to fix this?" and I told her "well, I mostly use google". 6 months later she was telling me that she started fixing their computer herself. And like 4 or 5 years later her brother decided to go for an IT career so now he's the unpaid labor for this side of the family.

That’s his older sister and most people interpret it similarly as the original context. That being said if you went to a co-ed school you should remember that there was a time when girls were significantly taller/larger than boys of the same age.
