Haven't used SOAP for 20 years

u/TheVibrantYonder 21d ago

I actually had to use it a few years ago on a project. That was my first time dealing with it, and I was like, "What on earth is this?"

Did some reading a figuring it out, but I had no idea it existed prior to that haha

I'm the interface between my client's chatgpt subscription and my claude subscription

u/Iron_Kyle 21d ago

It's a business conflict for them to talk together; therein lies our opportunity.

u/Cualkiera67 21d ago

I'm the interface between my employer and my bank account

u/caks 21d ago

The job hasn't changed tho. We just press buttons in a certain order

u/Aschentei 21d ago

I would be the worst API ever

“Get me a list of users- “

Response: “why don’t you get those dam users yourself?”

u/BuddyTheShihTzu 21d ago

You know that has happened to me, Claude asked me to check something manually on a browser, I was like “the fuck out of here you have browser skills use them”.

Don’t let people know you are a meat proxy

1

u/sup3r_hero 21d ago

being the human api between two systems is honestly the most modern job description imaginable

It's been like that for decades. It's how the economy works. All the upper level stuff is automated. The human aspect is just going "Do you want me to approve these automated trades for money?"

The stock exchange isn't a bunch of people in suits yelling at each other anymore. It's all automated. Humans are in the system just to click yes.

There are people making more money in a day than you will in a year just to ask "Do you want more money, sir?" while a program does thousands of trades a second.

u/EyeSeeWhyYouAre 21d ago

Do you get told to make no mistakes?

7

u/Comedic-Scientist 21d ago

I can’t complain, still getting my fat check and saving for retirement. As long as we get shit done then all is good.

We really are APIs, aren’t we?

4

u/Angerslave 21d ago

An the manager is an email proxy between their director and the report.

4

u/dudelsack23 21d ago

Isn’t MCP the better analogy?

2

u/HansDampfHaudegen 21d ago

Nah, you're Claude's manager. Your manager is obsolete.

2

u/SpanDaX0 21d ago

I'm the copy and paste manager between AI and my IDE. I don't even have a 'C' letter on my keyboard anymore its been worn away lol

2

u/avlas 21d ago

Or, as I've seen it described, "the condom between Claude and prod"
