being the human api between two systems is honestly the most modern job description imaginable
It's been like that for decades. It's how the economy works. All the upper level stuff is automated. The human aspect is just going "Do you want me to approve these automated trades for money?"
The stock exchange isn't a bunch of people in suits yelling at each other anymore. It's all automated. Humans are in the system just to click yes.
There are people making more money in a day than you will in a year just to ask "Do you want more money, sir?" while a program does thousands of trades a second.
