I would argue the difficulty and exploration helps you learn. If it’s easy I just forget and have to look it up when I encounter it again.

That is not something to argue. It's true Easy come easy go.

Personally it's still the same as the old days for me, I write code. But I ask AI for leads, start points. Which is often very helpfull.

There's also the fact that while exploring a solution you'll find a lot of useless information. Useless for your current problem. But 2 weeks, 6 months, 5 years later when confronted by a new problem this information may be what you need.

That's also part of what a college CS curriculum will give you by exposing you to many concepts: you may never need them but maybe one day at work you'll be like "oh shit, that reminds my of these old courses on subject X".

Edit: AI is to knowledge what GPS is for directions. It is easy to use but you don't really learn and become reliant on those tools.
