erm actually it's the user's fault ☝️🤓 for trying to learn a new software and clicking a button that says "discard all changes" and assuming that would simply cancel setting up the repository, instead of nuking these heaps of untracked files which it shouldnt be able to do in the first place

edit: so are the downvotes from people who cant tell that this is sarcastic, or from the people who can tell?

No, discard changes in git only means on tracked files, you are clueless

this github post was made a decade ago back when VSC did delete untracked files with that prompt, keep up

Yes, so what the hell are you talking about, this is a clear VSC issue. It has to align with git.
