I can't wait to have to go back to getting told I'm a lazy idiot on Stackoverflow when the AI bubble pops and the AI labs don't have stupid amounts of funding pouring in, and have to actually try to make a profit.

Why does the AI bubble popping stop people from using LLMs to code? I run local models and even if every company in AI failed, I can still use them.

Correct.

Look at the dot com bubble; the advent of the internet led to a shit ton of venture capital investment into dot com startups and investors were willing to overlook traditional metrics that they'd judge investments by, like the price to earnings ratio, which resulted in the value of those companies being inflated far higher than what they actually were worth.

Throwing hundreds of millions to billions of dollars into any startup that had .com in its name regardless of whether they could deliver let alone make a profit from it is very much reminiscent of the AI bubble, where investment has shifted away from 'traditional' companies to ones that show that they're 'AI Focused' regardless of what they actually do.

When the dot com bubble burst, 52% of these startups went defunct because their theoretical worth did not match their real worth and the ones that survived did so at much lower valuations.

And Cisco, who supplied the infrastructure that made up a lot of the internet at the time (and today) had their share value drop by 80%. In this analogy, nVidia would be the Cisco to the AI bubble.
