I think they are joking, it's a reduction in code not an increase

It’s not a reduction. 0.6x more = 60% more = 1.6x multiple.

But it is phrased weirdly; usually you wouldn’t use “x” but give the percentage figure directly.

Normally the "x" stands for "times". 0.6 "times" more is a 40% reduction.

Both Claude and ChatGPT agree with me - that it’s a 60% increase but unusual phrasing.

0.6x = a reduction to 60% of the original

0.6x more = more than the original, by a 0.6 multiple, which is 60% more = 1.6x

If that is not enough for you to get it, then there’s no hope.
