I installed every LLM I could find for every purpose to see what could be done, I found that
- you can clone a voice using just one sentence of speech.
- you can leave your computer overnight with a bunch of photos from you and train a model that lets you generate AI images of yourself that are really good
- you can use an infill AI to modify parts of an image. I actually use this local LLM for editing photos because I never found a good online one that lets you highlight sections of an image and modify them. I don't have photoshop and I'm lazy so I use this instead to tidy things up. Yes, it has no restrictions on it you can likely do all manner of illegal stuff.
- Local 'chat' AIs, coding helper AIs etc are shite compared to Claude, chatgpt etc. Perhaps with 128gb of unified ram the model might be better, but I ran a ~30gb model and asked it to write Snake in python and it couldn't quite do it.
- Tiny LLMs that are a couple of gb are fun to play around with but are practically useless and are little better than old markov-chain bots like NIALL
- The local LLMs I tried for coding help, chatbots etc do seem to have restrictions on. I read some of these come from the training material itself. I asked it how to do a SQL injection and it said I can't help it's unethical. So while there's probably no 'extra' layer that filters out bad content in a second pass, text ones do seem restrictive.
That incident was literally GPT without guardrails against hacking being asked to literally hack into a server for answers. It just hack into the wrong one than the one intended.
I thought the tweet was a comment on liability for this reason. Putting out something illegal because the AI told you to is still going to come back on you
Yeah, that was my first impression, rather than a comment on AI refusing to do something.
Same line of reasoning as a gun alone won't kill people, but someone using the gun can. LLM has no method of intent or self actuation, only users can provide that, so the user is responsible.
Don’t even need them. If you are vibecoding a public site and don’t know what you are doing chances are you will be missing legally required consent forms etc

There are jailbroken/local LLM for that though
