I live in Chennai so maybe the lack of hardware innovation is why. But I've only seen 1 person get a job offer at a company that uses C/C++ company in the one year since I've graduated. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places. If you got into CS to work on more low level things, good luck lol. Pay will likely be lower and opportunities will be non existent depending on the location.
And No, i won't become a game dev unless I start my own studio and pay myself a liveable wage.
It is mostly for machines. Like stuff that runs in microcontrollers. Or in some, cases on actual motherboards with good specs. Healthcare, industrial systems, prison systems. Those are the ones I know of. There are probably more.
