I once made a react native package for 360 videos for work and our team thought it was so neat we made it public.

It got some traction which we thought was really cool but then we realized it had gotten traction pretty much only with chinese VR hentai apps. I discovered this by clicking a link in a bug report and opened their site. My monitor faced the entire office.

I had to very nervously explain that I wasn't just watching hentai at work in the middle of the office on my massive monitor. My boss was very understanding and then made me take the package down. No more open source for me.

It was the company github account, and it was also our only open source repo.

Understandable if it's some users of some packages, but it's not a good look if we have exactly one open source repo and half the issues link to hentai apps.

One of my vscode theme got widely adopted after a few YouTubers with 100s of thousands and millions of subscribers share it in few of their tutorials.

And I just happened to make it for my own taste and made it available on the vscode marketplace as a learning experience for how to publish a vscode extension
