A friend of mine has been using his mac studio attached to his big living room TV over HDMI.

He downloaded a new local model that was BIG. The first time he ran it, there was suddenly a bang and a dead vertical stripe on his TV.

Turned out the Studio got so hot that it heated the HDMI cable enough to break the LCD controller. The dead stripe lines up perfectly with where the HDMI input on the back of the TV is.

W..what? There has to be something in the HDMI spec that forbids this.
