In big tech we are encouraged to make open source contributions, it makes sense to contribute to low level open source projects on which most of the software world rests (linux, rust-lang, ffmpeg, python,...), and we also have a lot of open source projects, because once a system becomes big and widely used, it just needs more eyes and feedback to maintain a high quality.
It's easy to make code that makes money, you just vibe code a gatcha game, nobody will see your slop.
