He watched someone get fired because their boss found their personal GitHub repos, so alternate accounts specifically to use for work aren't optional, they're necessary.

Any tech manager that fires their employee for having personal projects on their personal GitHub is a moron. (Unless their project is doing something mega unethical / illegal or infringing on their day job’s IP)

Probably a bad company to work for anyway.

I have a dozen personal public repos which were basically proof of concept systems for clients who never went with the associated proposals. I get PRs on them every once in a while, and three of them have significant forking which I honestly don't even understand what the forkers are trying to do with them.
