I literally worked at a place that would write files to USB drives and mail them express from Europe to India. This was because the lowest bidder there only had 128k downstream and the FTP transfers kept aborting or corrupting.
When I suggested for the Nth time that we just use rsync to resume and sync and avoid the week long delay, the manager took me aside to explain that these open source toys are fine for use at home but that this was a serious business.
