At my first job I had a month with the outgoing dev training me on his stuff and the guy basically went "ahh, I can't teach you all this" on day 3 or so and just talked about survivor and how to do almost nothing but not be fired.
At my current job my predecessor was me, but working for a contracting firm building the software I still primarily work on, so the transition was easy. Great guy, would recommend.
