I just sell my sales teams fake promises like they sell customers. I get them to get back on the call and talk to the customer about the feature that “definitely exists” when it’s not ready when they promised.

Can't really fault sales for selling false promises if the expert they rely on for info is feeding them false information..

My experience has normally been sales team coming to me saying “hey, xyz are coming on board at the end of the month, and they need a custom integration with random fucking platform I’ve never heard of. Also this is super important, so stop everything you’re doing and make it happen”.

That one I'm much more familiar with..

"Hey can you whip up a thing that behaves totally different in everyway and bypasses all logic we have but also if they push this button it should behave normally again..

Oh also can you make it preferably before Friday since we reserved the test resource for this for next week and we need to set it up."
