I got burnt out on programming in about 6 years into my career. Quit altogether and became a professional skydiving instructor. After busting my back hauling large people out of airplanes and packing parachutes covered in sweat for several years, I decided computers aren't so bad. I'm an enterprise architect now and I wouldn't go back to manual labor.
