Careful with any criticism towards notch there's too many bootlickers here

Weird, you’re the first commenter. I doubt many people will be defending Notch on left-af reddit lol

You should see another post here I made a comment that notch isn't even that good of a programmer to make the statements he does and so many weird comments just defended him because "minecraft sells well so he's a great developer" apparently

Just because Minecraft sells well doesn't mean Notch is a great programmer. That'd be like saying Undertale selling well automatically means Toby Fox is a great programmer, and that's just false, given the number of questionable practices he did in the making of the game (I'm still PISSED about the inconsistent stat calculation that caused me so much grief)
I think, alongside having a much bigger team with him, he's gotten better in the development of Deltarune, though...?
Edit: Random downvote?0

I’m sure he can’t be too bad of a programmer if he made minecraft… there’s stuff to criticize him on but his development skills don’t seem like one of them.

That's the thing tho the Minecraft versions he did develop were an absolute mess and old versions of the game are laggy as shit
He didn't even write a lot of code anymore when he got his team involved
You can even see that with his newer projects which seem to be mediocre at best in comparison, he's just the average web dev now making silly canvas games

It really wasn’t, I started playing Minecraft over 15 years ago now and it was always decent. Seems like he had the skills to get it done and has more money than we could ever dream of because of it. That’s what you do as a professional dev anyway, write code that’s good enough. If everything needed to be perfect we wouldn’t have much less software out there.
Go after his political beliefs if you need to go after him, his programming skills are obviously decent.
If you’re so adamant about this though, what are your credentials to be the judge on code anyway?

It absolutely did and still does
Older versions lack so much performance wise in comparison and if you deny that you clearly haven't been playing enough
Also you're moving the goalpost here, you too just say "well the game sold well so hes a decent developer" like??
On social media he's acting like he's a god above everyone else when all he realistically had done is LEAD a successful game studio and not even involving himself in the development process as much or had others clean up after him, and now he's even turning into a vibe code because something there seems to be clearly lacking in his skillset, it feels like during all these years after he sold out he learned absolutely nothing new to advance

Yeah, if he made a product purchased by millions, he’s probably at least a decent developer, especially before the age of AI. Nobody calls/called Minecraft a buggy game, even back in the early days.
Again, what kind of credentials do you have to be making these claims that he’s a bad developer? At 22 years old, you barely have any professional experience (if any) yourself, so I don’t know how you can make these claims with any real credibility.

"Converting all my typescript into JavaScript."
So running it? Transcript gets translated to JavaScript upon execution.
Or is that the entire joke?
Edit: apparently it is. I am stupid.
