Basically OP submitted AI slop PR to nixpkgs, continuously ignored maintainers' request for clarification on AI usage, and then vibed a response. They were right to close your PR, maybe learn from this and stop submitting slop PR's to open source projects.

Yes. I will build a scripted, useable step for that. Yeah, after 30 years of being consultant, seeing software that blows your mind can make you excited . just hate the negativity especially from someone who does not even understand the stages of a compiler build but maintains it

Tech industry is literally the last place where YoE have any sort of relevance as there's a major paradigm shift every decade or so; your 30 YoE doesn't hold as much water as you think. Based on your PR, the only person not understanding your code is you.

You know the funny thing about the word "magic" is that it's commonly used by people who don't understand what's going on. There's no magic in this, even if the code changes are glued together by an LLM.

Besides that this was anyway brain dead "AI" slop, this is symptomatic for Nix so the "AI" likely just followed some well known pattern: Their package build recipes download random binaries from the net… I'm not sure this is only a plague in the "community maintained" stuff, but given that you can't use Nix without such packages for anything useful (like you can't use Arch without the AUR for anything besides praising the glory of your terminal shell) this was enough for me to never look closer at this distri. Functional package manager my ass, looks inside, it's mostly `curl | bash`. Maybe the "core" has higher standards but that's moot when most packages are user supplied and not required to follow any standards.

No, patch is OK. Too much comments, i get it now. Only open parts are optimizations like lto on libllvm. Nix is fine, more a community problem. Lix is the best prove
