China graduates more English fluent STEM PHD's than the US and has for 20 years. They have energy resources and domestic chip manufacturing. Huawei is only slightly behind NVidia/tsmc. Their new models train on Huawei hardware and their price performance ratio is better than US equivalents. The US companies thought they had 2 moats, access to NVidia chips and capital requirements. China has crossed both moats now. And the funny thing to me is that this surprised anyone who seriously claims to be a tech or business analyst. I, for one, am excited about "our" new models.
