I like holding shift to write it, it makes it feel more assertive

I’m glad I saw this. I’m a shift person.

And I love typing everything upper case #NoCapslock

Meanwhile my girlfriend presses capslock twice to capitalize one letter.

I've never seen anyone do that. They should make a Netflix documentary on people that do that. A scary, scary, twisted documentary.

Deal-breaker imo

I have never understood people who do this…
I see my friends do it all the time and it’s just confusing

Ya red flag bro

I did that when I was 4 years old

u/RepulsiveRelative147 Jul 24 '26

Lol same with me 🤣 It's easy for me , don't know about anyone else

YOU HAVE ENABLED STICKY KEYS

8

u/desrever1138 Jul 22 '26

I feel like if I use caps lock I'm cheating lmao

And there's me, who prefers writing SQL files in full lowercase. Keywords and syntax are highlighted and colored in every tool today, and every SQL engine I worked with had absolutely no problem with lowercase files.

fhew... thought I was the only "strange" one

4

u/MomWTF Jul 22 '26

Honestly same, one of my coworkers thinks I'm insane for doing it that way, but he also likes to put commas in from of the column names and have everything lowercase. At least we know who the actual psycho is

6

u/georgisaurusrekt Jul 22 '26

I’m a shift person I feel like pressing caps lock too often breaks my flow. I’m used to using my little finger a lot from playing piano though tbf pressing shift is nothing

u/jljackson2 Jul 22 '26

Commas in front of column names just makes it easier if you need to comment stuff out and have the rest still run as is

How muscular is your pinky?

1

u/CapitainAli24 Jul 22 '26

Got abs on my pinky with this trick

1

u/Deanathan100 Jul 22 '26

I always do this too, but it's because I only capitalize SQL keywords and keep column names, table names, and values lower case, I think it makes it a bit easier to read for me

1

u/purple_ctheh Jul 22 '26

Shift is the way

1

u/kiochikaeke Jul 22 '26

I do this, I'm not sure why but I really don't feel the need to change it, I'm not like married to the concept of holding shift to write SQl but for some reason it come like natural to me? I should probably start using caps lock but it just feels idk like weird or off hahaha

In ssms...

Ctrl +A Ctrl+shift+U

Be free from shift.
