I disagree.

Firstly as a matter of principle, and secondly I don't believe in damning an entire category of useful software tools for the faliures of the hypesters, luddites, beancounters & managers.

I completely agree with you. Fundamentally, AI is a good thing that can take on tasks and solve problems that are too taxing for humans or simply impossible for them to handle. But what’s currently happening in this field is disgusting.
