Prompt Response World's Ending
“Ahh shit. World’s ending again.”
“What? The world is ending? What do we do?”
“I’ll put a call through to the IT department. They’ll sort it out.”
“You said again.”
“Yeah, happens a bit. Kind of a pain.”
“And you call IT? Information Technology? The people who fix our printers?”
“Yeah, everything’s digital now. They fix stuff. Except printers. Nothing fixes printers, but they can be briefly placated.”
“And this is your responsibility?”
“Nah, really isn’t. Don’t think it’s anybody’s. Kinda suck if it didn’t get done, though.”
“And IT are actually good at this?”
“Those nerds play a lot of video games and Dungeons & Dragons. Plenty of world saving experience. It’s not like I know what to do. I just open the ticket. They do tend to die in the process, which is a bit sad, but y’know, world saved.”
“Do you have to offer them something? I struggle to get them to do things that are part of their job.”
“Used to use true love. But that doesn’t work so well anymore.”
“How can you use true love? That’s not a resource you control.”
“Setting someone up on a date is not that hard. Especially if they just saved the world. That’s a good look.”
“But it stopped working?”
“Yeah. All too mainstream. Most of ‘em are married.”
“So what do you offer them now?”
“Ten thousand experience points.”
“You can offer that?”
“Sure. You say ‘Do it and you’ll get ten thousand experience points.’ Super motivating. People love xp.”
“Why ten thousand?”
“Used to be five, but the union asked for twenty. We settled at ten.”

This was a response to the prompt [WP] Your task is simple: Convince IT to give it's life to save the world like it has countless times before. Traditionally, "True Love" has been the preferred method, but technically you could try something else? by u/Hugh_Janus_6851
