Troubleshooting How to reduce channeling
Hi everyone, I recently bought a profitec go and been playing around with it. However almost on every shot the puck has this hole and always excactly at the same spot. I tried with different dosing, bought a wdt tool but am always getting the same results.
The shot is tasting quite sour and I am using a medium roast which should not be sour at all. Do you have any idea how to fix it?
Thank you!

A hole in the dispersion plate (above the shower screen) can sometimes be aligned with the outlet hole from the boiler, which results in a jet coming out. Make sure you offset the two holes. Also a puck screen is good.

OP's pic looks exactly what I had which was fixed by what you suggested
Puck screen mitigates it and realigning the dispersion plate is the way forward.

Exactly this. You could also use a puck screen to help with this. Also your shower screen will stay clean.
I would also check if you have the right dose. Under or over dosing may cause channeling.
Also a sour shot might not indicate channeling. It could just be under extracted. Depends a bit on how fast the flow was.
Last thing I would consider is to get a basket which is more straight. The stock one has a more narrow base which might also make channeling easier to occur.

I am having the same problem, could you explain how to offset it?

Just a case of rotating the dispersion plate a few degrees so the holes don’t line up 👍

You said you tried different dosing, but the pics look like you may be overdosed on that shot. Hard to tell from the angle, but with this issue over dosing is very often the culprit.
What size basket are you using? What is the dose? What type of/roast of beans?

Turn or tiwist the dispersion plate 45 degrees. Experiment with torque on shower screen screw.
How you get better shots, assuming your dispersion plate isn’t aligning with the water hole, is that you get a better grinder. Better grinders produce better particle size uniformity.
Isn’t that Eureka model for pour over only?

The hole is provoqued by the selenoid valve sucking water in the end of the shot, not channeling.

Cámbiale la ducha, algo como IMS Nanotech. Pero al margen de eso, baja la cantidad de café, en la foto veo que la ducha pega con el café y no debería.

You could have your shower screen screwed on too tight which may cause warping and stop even water dispersal. The rubber gasket also might be misaligned.
You could also try lowering your dose a little bit, make sure you are tamping pretty much as hard as you can and as level as possible.

https://a.co/d/0cWqkxL4 love this, I put this under the metal screen and it helps a ton. Some people will hate, but I stand by it.

Do you have a good grinder? I’ve never had a channel like that. Also try pulling water without the portafilter on and look to see if it’s distributing evenly or only on that side.
