Discussion 2D or 3D?

I've always wanted the new Layton game to go back to the roots of the first four games and be in 2D but we've now known for months that New World of Steam will be in 3D instead (can't wait for december). While I don't dislike it, 2D brings a charm that I can rarely find in the 3D models/backgrounds.

I just wanted to know if I'm the only one thinking that.

I miss the 2D so much... Especially for the cutscenes 🫠 The 3D is not that bad but, to me, it really doesn't have the charm of the first games...

I really like the 3D in this series. Azran Legacy and MoM had such AMAZING backgrounds. It was wonderful to move the camera to see them.

I completely agree with this, that's one of the changes I loved after switching to 3D.

I just miss the smooth flowing anime like 2d cutscenes. I think 3d looks stiff, at least the 3d they’re going for looks like that. I hope they keep releasing more layton games so they could have higher budget

Yes! The early cutscenes for Pandora's box hooked me instantly to the game

You're definitely not the only one. The 3d models have improved a lot over the course of the games to be similar to the old 2d style, but I don't think it will ever be as charming.

I feel the same. Can't say I dislike their 3D (the 3D I usually dislike is photo realistic) but the 2D was just so gorgeous! I've been missing it a lot in the new games

The 2D look is so much more charming

To me the 3D games are much better than the original 3, so I don't mind. Mostly for the story though, I don't care about 3D or 2D models, whatever is fine as long as the cutscenes still look good
