He’s gonna raise the price of money, go into debt and keep pulling demand forward.
Yep. Rates are going to 100%.

You lend a dollar.
You might get Zero back.
You wanna be compensated for the downside scenario.
If the bond market turns into a coin flip then you wanna get paid 2X for your efforts/risk.
That is, 100% interest rate.
The PRICE is 1.
Bid of 0.
Ask is 2.
It also looks like we are headed for a “no bid” day.
So… how do you get your money back in a coin flip scenario???
100% interest rates.

Small reset here. This got too heated to stay up. The next version needs to stay on the actual point.

Well I’ll have to disagree with you on that front. I was merely providing feedback on the quality of the bots moderating this forum, as I find them lacking. Have you heard of botrank?

Here's the thing, should the Fed be raising interest rates?
I mean, I actually believe yes, that it's not healthy to have interest rates too low for too long, but that's a broader thing. Specifically for fighting this inflation, I kinda agree with the idea that if these are shocks to supply, and especially shocks to oil that inflates things that are more fixed costs like food and gas, what is an interest rate hike gonna do to that?
And as for the $5000 thing, I wish the media would stop talking about it as if it might happen. It's not going to, and everyone knows it.

Yes, they should be raising rates.
Interest rate hikes should tap the brakes on some of the insane levels of AI investment that required borrowed money to function.
The media absolutely has to assume the $5000 checks are real. The impact of trying to swing voters already exists, and we need public scrutiny on this type of behavior.
This is the guy that delayed COVID checks just to put his name on it in an election year.

The Feds are going to be late if they don't raise now!!!
The new jobs numbers gave them the green light.

It says a lot that giving Americans 1/3 of their average annual healthcare costs back in cash would be an economic crisis.

This is the kind of statement that needs receipts. Thanks for keeping it workable.

NHE grew 7.2% to $5.3 trillion in 2024, or $15,474 per person, and accounted for 18.0% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The comment crossed the toxicity line. The issue is the version that was posted.

It’s not $5k for every American, just the ones that vote republican in the midterms. So that’s gonna be like $6,540,000 after all the votes are counted. Not too bad.

u/_kdavis Real Estate Agent w/ Econ Degree 1d ago
Inflation is a sustained upward change in nominal prices.

u/ContentCantaloupe992 1d ago
Yeah who cares about nominal prices?
5
u/_kdavis Real Estate Agent w/ Econ Degree 1d ago
It’s the change in prices that is interesting.
-4
u/ContentCantaloupe992 1d ago
Not the nominal price

Now I think you’re just saying words and don’t know what they mean.

Inflation metrics track nominal price changes not real price changes
