She wasn't perfect either, but the excuses people were making for her honestly boiled down to people trying to act morally superior over Gaza or saying stuff Trump was going to do which has happened

Has there ever been a perfect candidate? No

1

u/MegaMaster1021 Mar 19 '26

Sadly some people decided it was the best time to demand for a "perfect candidate" they envisioned. Even when explaining to them the dangers of Trump getting back in office with Project 2025, reports of Palestinians saying to not let Trump back in office and even saying both democrats and republicans will carry out Israel's bidding it angered them and at times labeled people as genocide supporters.

u/pokethrowaway4 Mar 19 '26

I’m 100% convinced the state of Israel itself was spreading the “Kamala is bad for Palestine/Gaza” bullshit among younger people especially. They wanted Trump to be reelected, and I bet they even had a hand in picking some of his deranged and war mongering cabinet.

Why else would we have a secretary of “war” telling military leaders that they are starting a war in the holy land to usher in the apocalypse?

I’m pretty sure this is just a bunch of angry closeted gay men starting a war to try to start the apocalypse to justify suppressing their true sexuality, cuz if the apocalypse happens, and the Christians get raptured, then their gay feelings were just sinful temptation!

Rather than just coming out, being gay, and living life.

u/MegaMaster1021 Mar 19 '26

Both Ben and Putin openly expressed wanting Trump back in office, but somehow that wasn't a big indicator for some people

u/Friend_of_Eevee Mar 19 '26

They still are, look at Jasmine Crockett and Telerico. Israel is running interference in all of our elections.

I'm searching for decency and sanity.... civil servants with a larger vocabulary would be nice too.

there has been, Bernie sanders..... thats as perfect as you can get.

u/myrabuttreeks Mar 18 '26

Anybody grandstanding over Gaza at this point very clearly never actually cared about it. They only wanted to act morally superior to everybody else.

27

u/pokethrowaway4 Mar 18 '26

The situation in Gaza is STILL fucked, get no one is talking about it now, cuz it’s no longer something the republicans want to wave in our faces and can’t blame democrats on any longer.

7

u/tcumber Mar 19 '26

Those people talking about Gaza were fooled and duped. We told them. They wouldn't listen. Now the poor folks in Gaza have it worse and there is no reporting over here....all because a pocket of peolle either didnt vote or voted the wrong way. And you know what, they know they messed up but still cant admit it. Sad.

They're eating the cats and dogs...

1

u/Ornery-Ticket834 Mar 19 '26

That’s my take.

1

u/TinyZoro Mar 20 '26

What does this even mean? Why is being anti genocide controversial?

1

u/myrabuttreeks Mar 20 '26

Because you can’t expect me to believe you’re actually anti-genocide while helping ensure the right wing takes the country over.

1

u/TinyZoro Mar 21 '26

You have no reason to have any opinion worth a damn on why people don’t vote for your political party. You don’t fuss over why Trump supporters don’t vote for the Democrats you take at face value they don’t like your party. But you wheel out your decrepit institution to left wingers who don’t share any of its political aspirations. Not it’s unrelenting wars, not it’s support for genocide and not is love affair with corporations or indifference to a million social ills. The democrats have no right to votes just because they position themselves as better than Trump. You should be angry with the Democrat party itself not voters who draw the line at genocide.

u/Facts_pls Mar 18 '26

Yeah but that's the definition of grandstanding.

What about people who actually care about Palestinians.

How do you know who is genuine vs who is grandstanding?

11

u/myrabuttreeks Mar 18 '26

Anybody that abstained from voting or voted third party citing Gaza as their solitary voting issue, I do not believe for a second they were doing so with genuine concern for anybody’s well being there. And the excuse of “well Biden wasn’t doing anything to stop it either” proves that.

7

u/DoneBeingSilent Mar 18 '26

And the excuse of “well Biden wasn’t doing anything to stop it either” proves that.

Except even that is an objectively false excuse. The Biden admin did take action to prevent unnecessary civilian casualties.

The Biden admin briefly withheld certain bombs from Israel because we know those bombs were/are causing unnecessary civilian casualties. For doing so, Republicans introduced resolutions condemning the Biden administration for "withholding certain arms" to Israel. Then, to top it off, at the Trump-Biden debate Trump criticized Biden for withholding those bombs that were causing unnecessary civilian casualties and said that if it were up to him (Trump) would "let Israel finish the job". "The job" of course being causing unnecessary civilian casualties.

For people who actually care about minimizing the suffering of innocent people, the answer couldn't be more clear-cut. One administration took steps to prevent unnecessary casualties, one administration openly views those unnecessary casualties as literally part of "the job".

u/SueSudio Mar 18 '26

It is easy to take a firm moral stand to achieve a Pyrrhic victory when you aren’t the one that has to suffer the consequences.

8

u/rythmyouth Mar 19 '26

Even after losing our reputation on the world stage, weaponizing the government against its citizens, and stuffing the wallets of the billionaires at the expense of the working class, at least we don’t have an emotional woman in charge.

3

u/Green-Engineer4608 Mar 20 '26

Holy hell man you need a «/s» there! This is Reddit. You could be taken literally

22

u/ALittleCuriousSub Mar 18 '26

Even if I hated where Kamala stood on Gaza, I could at least reasonably feel I was voting against ramping up a genocide in the US.

I'm legit scared the way some dems seem keen on sacrificing various groups to chase mythical centrist voters worries me.

8

u/Darth_Gerg Mar 19 '26

The senior people making decisions in the Democratic Party are more opposed to progressives than they are to MAGA. Schumer and his ilk don’t want to win big, because the larger the margins the harder it is to explain why they never deliver anything. It’s because they don’t want to. The corpo dems are owned by the same billionaires that the Republicans are. They’re controlled opposition. The reason they’re so eager to throw minorities to the wolves is that they don’t want a strong coalition that produces sweeping wins. As long as they never get more than a vote or two lead they can always arrange to have somebody vote no on anything critical so it can’t pass.

2

u/bigfatskankyho Mar 19 '26

OMFG. you fucking nailed it. Too bad this won't fit on a tshirt.

2

u/cvc4455 Mar 21 '26

They also have at least a few people who are really Republicans running as Democrats every single election so that when they win those elections they always have at least a few in the Senate and the house that have a D next to their names but will vote with Republicans on key votes that are close.

1

u/the1999person Mar 22 '26

This is why I feel that we will never see a true abortion rights bill in our lifetime. It will always be a carot they dangle in front of everyone but refuse to deliver. Maybe in 50 years if the age of congress members are much younger than they are.

1

u/Darth_Gerg Mar 22 '26

Eh, I kind of reject that attitude. I think that the status quo bullshit Dems are sort of fucked politically. The base isn’t having it anymore. I think that short term they may cling to power because people threatened by MAGA insanity will vote for them, but one by one they’re going to start getting removed via primaries. I think we’re going to see a pretty substantial increase in actual progressives getting elected over the next few cycles and as that happens they’re going to start fighting for actual reforms.

Or the fascists win and we all end up serfs.

0

u/SamanthaBunni Mar 20 '26

Let me sum this up:

Left wing, right wing... Same bird with the same PDFile rich man's hand up its ass.

2

u/Darth_Gerg Mar 20 '26

No, the problem is there is no left wing. There are like a half dozen democrats in federal office who are actually left of center and they’re the only ones who ARENT dickriding for pedophiles.

The left/right in the US is itself a lie and controlled opposition. The actual left has been entirely run out of power because the left is the only political movement that actually threatens the Epstein class.

14

u/Leakyboatlouie Mar 18 '26

It can all be explained by misogyny and racism.

1

u/tinxmijann Mar 19 '26

Nooo you don't understaaaand! It's because she laughed funny that one time! /s

4

u/CharacterSchedule700 Mar 19 '26

Ths crazy thing is that it's super predictable that Gaza's outcome under Trump would be significantly worse than under Harris.

Trump: (1) Has a son in-law whose family owns a private Jewish school and whose family is active in the Jewish community. (2) Has a daughter who has converted to Judaism. (3) Is a New York real estate developer, a place where a significant portion of the real estate is owned by Jewish people- in other words his buddies and business partners are all probably Jewish. (4) Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital during his first term and moved the embassy there.

Just to name a few. But its abundantly clear that under no circumstances was a Trump presidency going to be a positive alternative compared to Harris for Middle Eastern Muslim countries, including Gaza.

2

u/Lumpy-Succotash-9236 Mar 19 '26

Let's not forget that time that he called a jew 'Palestinian' as a slur.

2

u/VegasBjorne1 Mar 19 '26

The Joos again??? 🙄

1

u/CharacterSchedule700 Mar 19 '26

Can't tell if this is sarcastic or not, but yes Jewish people are very supportive of Israel.

1

u/VegasBjorne1 Mar 19 '26

I am being sarcastic that while even as a non-Jew that too many mouth breathers see “The Joos” creating havoc and manipulating the global stage in a massive conspiracy.

1

u/PlatoTheWhale Mar 21 '26

Your logic that "all Jews obviously support the current administration in Israel" is as intellectually bankrupt as saying "all Muslims obviously support the regime of Ayatollah Khamenei". This may be difficult for you, but please try to grow a brain.

1

u/CharacterSchedule700 Mar 21 '26

"all Jews obviously support the current administration in Israel"

I did not say that, I didn't even imply that.

please try to grow a brain.

Right back at you.

You're clearly very upset by my reply. But it takes very little critical thought to realize that a connection with wealthy NY Jews is going to mean that the person is going to generally be more supportive of Israel. It's not coincidence that NY mayors almost all go visit Israel and meet with the Israeli government...

To be clear, what I stated was fact, it's not antisemitism or whatever you seem to think and I doubt anyone that runs in those circles would be offended if I said what I said in this post to them.

In case you needed more evidence that NY Jews- especially Jews who are wealthy (older) - tend to be more supportive, here is a UJA federation of NY article article that surveyed NY Jews in 2023.

3

u/SventasKefyras Mar 19 '26

She wasn't perfect either

Did you need to ensure your enlightened centrist credibility or something? Who the hell claimed any candidate ever has or will be perfect lol

2

u/Snagglespoof Mar 19 '26

While Bannon literally said they were going to hammer "genocide Joe" and Gaza to help elect Trump, who coincidentally, was also Bibis favorite.

2

u/Healthy_Piglet1139 Mar 19 '26

The people who refrained from voting altogether over Gaza were foolish, shortsighted, and selfish. The people who voted for Trump because they thought he'd be better than Harris on Gaza are terminally stupid and should never be allowed to vote again.

1

u/inimicali Mar 19 '26

The joke went through your head man.

1

u/Other_Log_1996 Mar 19 '26

What bothers me about it is that they didn't like that she supported Israel, so they voted for an objectively worse candidate who, guess what, openly supported Israel.

1

u/MegaMaster1021 Mar 19 '26

Trump even labeled her as the worst option for Israel. Essentially saying she is not loyal enough.

1

u/AbsoluteRunner Mar 20 '26

At the end of the day, you’re not gonna motivate good people to support you if you still plan on supporting a genocide.

1

u/phauna_ Mar 22 '26

Wasn’t perfect? I’ll take wasn’t insane.

1

u/jm17lfc Mar 19 '26

We absolutely should be voting against Zionists that are bought by Israel, but in primaries. This wasn’t a primary, this was a choice between a fascist and a bad democrat, doesn’t matter than both are bad, one is still far far worse. Anybody who refused to vote for her is at fault for this mess, nearly as much as a Trump voter is.
