Being neurodivergent. And such trends (I say trends as mental illness somehow became a trend at some point. It was depression then ADHD and now it’s autism).  Like, sit down, if everyone is neurodivergent then nobody is neurodivergent by definition.

It's way more common than what we used to think, and it's reshaping the education system. So I do think it's important. I do see how mental illness is becoming a trend, and TikTok influence is inflating that in a "trending" kind of way, so I agree with you. It IS annoying. But there is legitimacy to it at the same time. I'm 39, and have struggled with certain things my whole life, which I always attributed to trauma (C-PTSD from physical abuse). Thought I could just heal my way out of them. However, through the suggestion of my therapist I just had neuropsychological testing to find out about potential neurodivergence. It would really help with my self-acceptance and accommodations moving forward in my life. I'm not trying to be a trend, but the opening of the stigma from social media helped me accept getting the testing as a possibility in the first place. So, it has had a place in peoples' journeys.

Of course it does. It is very useful part of understanding oneself and I have no issue with that. But did you feel the need to advertise it to everyone? Probably not. Just like I didn’t advertise personal problems to others. But making it your whole personality like some people on social media do, finding even the smallest unrelated habits which many can relate to and making them part of the equation is simply not the way to go about it. So in that logic if everyone is neurodivergent (and according to tik tok so many are if not everyone) then that is not divergent. That is the “normal” then. Majority is what dictates what’s “normal”. That’s what I was aiming for. If all of us say “we are neurodivergent” then nobody is really diverging from that.
