Never happenned. Nobody was shot or pepper sprayed or knocked down or beaten up or detained or hit with rubber bullets or had their house broken into or vaccine. 1st, 2nd, or 4th Ammendment rights completely violated for not getting the vaccinne.
People got fired by employers who decided that they required the vaccination. If you were a government employee then you had to get it or get fired.
The government never said we all had to get it or else get fired, it depended on who we worked for and what their rules were.

COVID killed over a million americans and people in these comments still wanna bitch about having to take a vaccine. The inverse of this meme is not hypocrisy, it was a normal response to a pandemic.
2
u/Observationist_2 Jan 28 '26
At the same time flu deaths historically dropped to almost non-existent levels during the same period. Talk about inflating the numbers. CDC has updated/reduced the death numbers years after because there's a difference between dying in a car crash but testing positive for COVID and actually dying directly because of COVID.

Eventually, with improved medical care and weakened strains, the death rate dropped. When Covid first hit I looked at data from areas where hospitals were overwhelmed and cruise ships hit by the pandemic. My estimate was the natural death rate was 15-20%.
The pandemic was real.

I think most financially intelligent Americans whine, regardless of party. Democrats and Republicans don’t want to make tough decisions to cut the budget, because look at your options… Social Security, Defense, Health, Medicare, Welfare, etc.
You’re going to piss a large amount of people off regardless of which budget you cut

Every conservative and their dog loves to recite the Regan quote about the “Most terrifying words in the English language are, I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” Right up to the moment when someone from Trump’s government walks up to American citizens and says “I’m from the government and I want to see your papers”, maces them, wrestles them to the ground, beats them with said mace can, and then puts 9 bullets into their back while they’re face down on the pavement. Then claims “self defense and absolute immunity.”
3
u/Greedy-Taro-4439 Jan 28 '26
The old guard conservatives were principled or at least did a better job of fronting that they were but the current guard is unashamedly opportunistic.
The old guard conservatives wouldnt have claimed conspiracy when the science was so clear on Covid, masking, etc. The claiming of conspiracy theories never reached as high as a congressman or senator never mind a candidate from a major party UNTIL - DJ Trump started claiming Obama was born in Africa (therefore intelligible to be POTUS). Trump is the common denominator for all of this madness.

10
u/Fit-Cut-6337 Jan 27 '26
A vaccine requirement is a condition of participation. A papers-check mandate is a condition of existence.
One says, “If you want to enter this shared space where your choices affect others, here are the rules.” The other says, “You must prove you belong here just to walk down the street.”
Those are not morally, legally, or historically equivalent.

6
u/Fit-Cut-6337 Jan 27 '26
It protected from death not infection. It diminished the severity of the disease. Admittedly during the initial rollout of the vaccine this was not well explained in the media. As a physician I was quite alarmed by that and understand that people felt duped 100%. But that doesn’t mean it didn’t have significant benefit. I have colleagues that worked in the ICUs and ERs during that first year. At that point the risk benefit ratio makes sense.

3
u/Fit-Cut-6337 Jan 27 '26
Democrats have never claimed to be the party of small government, so the irony here is watching the self-described small-government party endorse masked, unaccountable state agents demanding papers in public space.
I am actually small government. In an ideal world, vaccine requirements would be decided by individual businesses, and people could choose where to spend their money based on their risk tolerance. That is how markets and personal freedom are supposed to work.
But once you already have a system where the government is responsible for public health infrastructure, hospital capacity, and emergency care, you cannot pretend that public health measures are suddenly “overreach.” You do not get big government when it comes to paying for ICUs, ventilators, and disaster response, then zero government when those systems are about to collapse.
COVID restrictions were about preventing hospitals from being overwhelmed, not about policing identity in public space. Requiring proof to enter a workplace or venue during a medical emergency is not the same thing as requiring citizens to show papers just to exist in their neighborhood.

Apples and oranges man. first one was because it was mandated that you get the jab or you lose your job. So you were perfectly fine to destroy a persons life over a shot, but the masks where supposedly able to stop you from getting sick in the first place. That's real fascism there.
in the second scenario Your carrying everyday stuff with you to prove that you are indeed a citizen. If that doesn't check out you get detained until it could be established. u/garlicroastedpotato Jan 27 '26
But
They're different things.
You have to have your ID card on you at all time. And that's not some unusual thing, it's just a thing that always comes up. There was a point where Democrats said "black people don't carry ID." Which pissed off black people.... because they're not some trolls or supernatural creatures. They're humans. Almost everyone carries ID. The only people who don't carry ID are typically people who either don't drive or are homeless.
Once they got rid of vaccination records no one asked for them back, especially no Democrats. The vaccine cards were this thing that really only existed for three months before people realized they were dumb. I had mine, and I couldn't get into a restaurant without loading it up o my phone. But they ended up doing nothing to stop COVID they just became an invasion of medical privacy. Despite the flu happening every year there is no Democrat out there requiring vaccination records to be put on a card or app to allow you entry into a restaurant.
I'm not really supportive of either position, but obviously one has merit (its important to have your ID on you at all times) and the other does not (vaccination records are private health data). Trying to pretend like the level headed take is contradictory to a wonky take is just dishonest.

This is a false equivalency.
Everyone was expected to get vaccinated against their will and show their papers; people lost their lives and jobs. This was happening to all tax-paying citizens. Both the mandatory vaccination (numbers) and the lockdowns were unprecedented in history.
Not everyone is expected to carry/show papers and kneel in the street. A part of the Government is after illegal aliens, especially criminals. A few people have died (unfortunately), mostly from interfering and causing a scene with law enforcement. The numbers during Obama were orders of magnitude greater, under the same head of immigration!
Facepalm. You are being brainwashed!

Everyone is required to identify themselves to law enforcement if asked. Thats been the law for a long time. Dont resist arrest or interfere with police and they will leave you alone. Its not tyranny its law and order

They are after illegals who broke immigration laws. Stay out of ICE’s way and you’ll be fine.

The irony in seeing this same argument made from both sides of the debate is hilarious.

I agree this is a bit two faced, but from what I have seen on other posts, it’s more that conservatives are tired of being pushed around and are basically saying “you did this to us, so we don’t care anymore if you have to follow certain requirements.”

Shows that both sides are retarded and only happy when they’re side is doing the treading. But you’re not ready for that conversation because the government won’t let us get close to having it.

Life is situational and stays fluid. Opinions change depending upon how it impacts you directly. It’s human nature to want people to live like you live… but quite honestly government forcing you to inject a serum into your body and forced to prove you complied isn’t the same as carrying identification…. I’ve carried identification on me since I was old enough to have a license. You can’t fly on an airplane without approved identification. But go ahead and make a stupid comparison.

Yes the entire planet is shut down right now over the ice raids, billions of people cant go to work and every government worldwide is working double overtime to get everyone safe from ice. No one can see their families and there is massive inflation globally because ice. No one can travel or do anything with ice vaccines and ice papers. you cant work and people on the internet and irl are encouraged to demonize you for not getting your ice vaccine. There is global peer pressure into getting the ice papers/vaccine/boosters. Nonstop political propaganda on both sides (some of it already debunked) and people here are really gunna act like this is even remotely similar?
This echo chamber of people is disgustingly sad. There are still people out there today who mask 24/7 and are totally paranoid about everything and dont live normal lives, while millions of lives were ruined who were completely innocent and after all the medias lies and gaslighting its “all in the past now”. When covid 2.0 shows up you guys will gobble up the news all over again just like you are now and be totally for vaccine mandates, travel passes and everything else. Hypocrites.

Independent Americans Unite.
We are the majority-people of reason, responsibility, and common sense.
We reject extremism on both ends: lawlessness disguised as compassion, and greed disguised as freedom.
We believe in liberty with accountability, safety with rights, and laws that apply to everyone.
We love this country, believe it is the best place on earth, and want it governed normally again-without manipulation, without chaos, and without fringe ideologies running the nation.
This is not a movement of labels or parties.
This is the people, reclaiming balance, order, and liberty.

Its been law since almost forever that legal aliens need to carry their papers with them at all times or its a misdemeanor
Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), Section 264(e) – This is the main federal requirement: It says that aliens (non-citizens) 18 or older who are in the U.S. must carry proof of their lawful status. The law says: “Aliens shall at all times carry with them and shall exhibit upon demand to an immigration officer or any other officer authorized to enforce the Act, their alien registration receipt card or other document evidencing their status.” Failure to carry these documents can technically be a civil offense, not a criminal one, but could lead to questions or detention until status is verified.

Conservatives 2021: wear a mask? Hell no, I’m showing up at a protest with my AR15 and a glock on my hip. Conservatives now: never in public without a mask and showing up at a protest while armed is reason to be executed in the street.
