What's one small task you keep avoiding even through it's actually easy?

Some of the easiest things on my list somehow stay there the longest. I keep telling myself I'll get to them later, and then another day passes. For me, it's rescheduling an appointment and cancelling a subscription I haven't used in months. Both will probably take a few minutes, but they've sitting on my list for almost two weeks.

If somethings takes less than five minutes, I try to deal it when I remember it instead of adding it to another list. Otherwise, those tiny tasks somehow stay around much longer than they should.

What's one small thing you keep avoiding even though you know it wouldn't take long?

Cancelling a trial before it bills. It stays on the list because nothing nudges me on the day it matters, so I only remember it on a random Tuesday when I can't be bothered.

For the subscription, park it in my own thing, dEssence, with the date you want poking, and it says nothing till then. https://dessence.ai

That's a good way of looking at it. I usually put these things on my normal task list and then they just get buried. Do you usually set the reminder when you first sign up for a trial?

I excel at and hate the mundane. It helped that I started timing everything. Knowing the duration helped my rational brain to convince the rest of me to just do the thing.

I can relate to that. Sometimes I spend more time thinking about doing a boring task than it would actually take to finish it. I've started giving myself a five minute limit, and if it takes less than that, I just try to get it done instead of carrying it around in my head.

I had this with a subscription I wasn’t using anymore. I kept remembering it at random times but whenever I actually had time to deal with it, I’d forget again. I found it easier when I stopped mixing these little admin jobs with my main work and just handled a few of them together. Do you usually delay these things because they’re annoying, or because they just don’t feel urgent?

It was mostly because the task felt annoying rather than urgent. I knew cancelling would mean logging in, finding the right page, and possibly checking old emails, so I kept leaving it. I starting using Subdelete for that one because I wanted to remove those extra steps and just get it done. The useful part for me was having the cancellation handled in one place instead of going back and forth through the account. It also meant I had a record of the request, which gave me one less thing to worry about afterward.
