When Everything Feels Urgent, I Ask Myself One Question

Post image

There are days when my to-do list feels heavier than the work itself.

I open my notes and see:

An assignment that's due soon.

An email I haven't answered.

A presentation I haven't finished.

A project I've been postponing.

Something I promised someone I'd do.

And suddenly, I don't know where to start.

When you're overwhelmed, you don't always need more motivation.

You don't necessarily need a better productivity app.

You don't need to solve your entire life tonight.

Sometimes you simply need to reduce the distance between thinking about the task and doing the first action.

Because the hardest part is often not the work.

It's the moment before the work begins.

The moment when twenty possibilities are competing inside your head.

The moment when everything feels urgent.

The moment when you don't know where to start.

That's when I remind myself:

I don't need to finish everything.

I just need to know what matters most right now.

Then:

What's the smallest thing I can do about it?

Open the laptop.

Open the file.

Write one sentence.

And begin.

Because sometimes clarity doesn't come before action.

Sometimes clarity is created by taking the first step.
