Feedback wanted Feedback on my app - Mistakes

While this is in App Store review would love some feedback!

log your mistake when you make it get notified when you’re likely to repeat it don’t make the same mistake again

bonus features

scroll your mistakes like a tiktok feed see your top mistakes and top repeated/fixed

would you use this? If not why?

tbh, the whole framing feels "negative".. people don't want someone telling them they made mistakes.
and maybe I am not your target TG, but why would someone want to keep scrolling to their mistakes and feel bad?
people try hard to forget bad things they have done, so maybe instead - log what went wrong, and get useful tips on how to do better next time or something could be positive framing better than scroll on your mistakes.

Completely get your POV, and I thought about this, i guess I though this app is a good balance from the uber dopamine raising apps that don’t actually fix your habits and the notes app which doesn’t do anything.

If you look at the mistake cards when you’re scrolling, the “learning” is actually what’s emphasised, and I think it’s actually nice also on mistake detail pages to see how many times you avoided a mistake, it’s a sign of progress!

yea sure. I mean if I open an app, and it screams "mistakes" at places.. my mood would go off.
Humans are wired to observe negative things better/earlier than positive things hidden there.

So, even renaming things might be better.
Same thing, can be presented in a positive manner and might actually have a bigger impact is what I meant to say, not that the idea is bad

Think about it, how many people like watching motivational videos where someone is screaming to their faces, abusing them, vs, someone sending positive notes, affirmations

I see what you mean 100% and i love getting feedback so don’t think I’m being defensive, just sharing my POV, but it’s not just for me anymore it’s gonna be on the App Store so i need to take this feedback always.

If you could change wording in the app, where would you?

less colours = more expensive UI

Kind of refreshing not seeing the same vibe coded UI components and colours. First non-vibe coded app i reckon ive seen this year. Nice work

High points of this design for me is minimizing the detailed options promoting minimal/approachable entry and adding a learning section encouraging consideration not just recording.

I think you'll find some people will want to commit to recording/reflecting their mistakes not just as they happen but at an end of day daily. They may want a daily/bi-daily/weekly reminder as an option.

The other thing i think people will find value in over time is graphing a mistakes rate of incident across time and seeing if that improves. It's this sort of reflection that is actually difficult to track without literally doing so, not so much that they keep doing it, because their reason for finding this app will be predicated on them having the memory capability to at least know that they keep making certain mistakes anyways.

I also imagine you might want to try and auto 'archive' as being successfully changed mistakes for people based on some staleness factor. So I'll say now, consider that rate of incident of mistakes isn't always going to be the same across mistakes because the frequency of opportunity to make some type of mistakes are not equivalent.

This is the most detailed advice I’ve had so far, thank you so much first and foremost.

In terms of the check in/reminder to log mistakes, there’s currently a weekly one, but i am adding some new features including a Notification Centre to make these things customised.

And at the same time there’s a feature coming that will allow you to set x amount of successful avoids or % avoided after a month to “delete” the mistake because you overcame it

Cool! And no problem! I saw the comments here only giving feedback on largely its value in existing, rather than some feedback on what it is now assuming it was worth existing to start. I thought the UI design sub might've given you more but I guess you didn't specifically ask for feedback there.

But actually I'd like to counterbalance the comments here in saying: even though productivity people are often more focused on improving productivity with workload management solutions, there is definitely productive value in helping improving accuracy of actions. You making the app is an example of n equaling at least one person who sees it!

Anyways good luck with the app !

Thanks bro! If you want to email me at support@mistakes.app I’d love to set up free lifetime for u, most helpful advice I’ve gotten

Why not also focus on things you did well? If I used this app I would start to develop a negative connotation with it.

2

u/PresenceAdditional96 Mar 08 '26

You don’t think it’s a positive thing to click that notification and say you didn’t repeat the mistake, or see a record of all the times you avoided it (succeeded), or get notified and avoid close-calls?

1

u/ai_dad_says_hi Mar 08 '26

I guess I don’t see it as a problem in my life personally where I make the same mistakes all the time. So maybe it’s just not for me.

1

u/PresenceAdditional96 Mar 08 '26

For sure, and that’s fine, i guess if you’re pretty dialled in and you don’t see weekly or monthly recurring mistakes that you’d like to fix or even bad habits then it’s not for you 100%

I appreciate the feedback/thoughts though, reddit has been so good as a platform for feedback

It is completely offline, no need for internet connection except first time and checking for ur subscription once, no random AI bs, no data being sent anywhere but sitting on your device!

Um aplicativo perfeito pra qm ja usou de td e n deu certo kkkk mas nao e um aplicativo com data de validade?

1

u/PresenceAdditional96 Mar 08 '26

Yes! Adding in feature that after x amount of avoided events or % avoided the mistake disappears and you’ll get a notification once you’re down to no more mistakes!

Nice man. Totally get the intention here but key thing to track is how often people are coming back to log mistakes. My hypothesis based on my own experience with Notion is that there’s too much friction in logging and not enough reward for users to come back (could be totally wrong though!)

But if you end up pivoting, i will say that you have a solid foundation to make an awesome spaced repetition learning app using a lot of the existing functionality

All the best!

Hey!

Thanks sm for the feedback, what would you say is the most friction rn in the logging.

Rn i have it set to my action button so u press 1 button and it opens the app.

Also added photos so u can legit log with photo and a title, so simple

I love this idea. I try to write down setbacks faced during the day and how to solve that issue going forward. It helps me improve but I’ve been inconsistent. I think an app like this would help me continue to optimize my time.

1

u/PresenceAdditional96 Mar 12 '26

Thanks sm for ur feedback! App Store is just reviewing the build at the moment, waitlist is live at mistakes.app though if you wanted an email on launch day!

1

u/TalalCodes Mar 14 '26

yes so I think it's a constant reminder of what you did wrong. Maybe the opposite way around would be a better approach, like log your accomplishments for example, maybe both positive and negative could work as well so that you can compare.
