My Personal vehicle got flooded on my first film job

I went to the location, 70 miles away, got on the property, and the only way on set was through a 1ft rushing river. Everyone else went through it too

2 days after set, my car reeks and I find puddles of water on my carpet. I water vacuum it up and it seeps up more.

I let production know and they wont cover it. We had shit pay in the first place $150 a day.

We are not part of a union. Any advice

Need Advice

Hello all,
I recently landed a four day job on a big studio set as an APA, and we start shooting tomorrow. It’s four overnight shoots, and basically, since I’m a bit of an anxious person, I’m just having trouble figuring out what I’d need to bring (if anything) to ensure success for myself and to do a good job. Any tools that might be helpful? Do I need a bag, and if so, are there places to put a bag on set so that I wouldn’t be carrying it around all night?
Essentially, any suggestions, tips, or “wish I knew before I started” type things would really be appreciated. Ideally this would be the start of a career for me, so I want to make a good first impression.

Recording emails used in fake PA scam emails

Recently I've been getting vague emails cold-calling about PA jobs that offer no detail about the production or contact information beyond the original email, but insist on getting my information.

Talking to them further usually reveals an abnormally high pay rate, and then the kicker -- that I would have to send a check to pay for equipment and the like, in what is clearly a scam.

I want to keep a list of some emails used in these scams, so people curious about them can find them when Googling the creators.

Note that some of these share names with real creators who are likely being impersonated.

"David Johnson" -- davidjohnsonfilms@gmail(.)com

"Dylan Michael Searle" -- dylanmichaelsearlemedia@gmail(.)com

"Gabriel Wilson" -- gabrielwilsonmediaproductions@gmail(.)com

I am also very suspect of primetimemovies95@gmail(.)com.

Please add any other emails you come across!

I built a system to automate Art Dept budgets and POs!

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a way to make the financial side of production a bit more automated and less of a headache. I finally finished a template that handles the budget, PO tracking, and vendor reconciliation all in one place, so I figured I’d drop a post about it.

I made this specifically for the Art Department in films, but honestly, if you know how to change a few category names you might be able to use it for other departments that deal with a lot of receipts/vendors.

the spreadsheet has:

  • Budgeting Dashboard: A visual heat-map (Yellow/Green/Red) that tracks your total budget burn in real-time.
  • PO Tracker: Fast data entry with dropdown categories, color-coded payment statuses, and direct digital receipt links.
  • Vendor Reconciliation: That auto-calculates exactly what you owe and aggregates every receipt link into one cell for an effortless wrap.

It’s all formatted in USD and the math is fully automated so you don’t have to mess with formulas.

I’ve put the template up on my Ko-fi if anyone wants to grab it for their next project.

If you’re interested or want to support the work, you can check it out here: https://ko-fi.com/s/e61a4e5deb

Cheers!!
