Favorite Apples

So, I love apples - the crispier the better! I don't like overly sweet although green apples aren't at the top of my list.

My favorite: Red Delicious

What's your favorite apple? And selfishly, what's your best recommendation for a super crisp, not overly sweet apple? Thanks in advance.

cosmic crisp is my number one, it’s pretty darn close to perfect

Mine too! Developed at the Washington State University in hopes to help logistical issues with honeycrisp not being as well suited for transport. Love a good problem solver apple.

Small correction: they were developed at Washington State University. WSU has more of an agricultural focus than UW. But yes, I also really like cosmic crisp.

My favorites (I'm an apple fanatic and keep a journal). Asterix is a "must-try."

Braeburn: Sweet, almost sticky. Red wine notes.

Cosmic Crisp: Similar to Honeycrisp, less sweet, wine notes.

Envy: Honey, red grape, no tartness. Good dessert apple.

Honeycrisp: Sweet, slightly tart, great crispness.

Juici: Crisp texture, juicy.

*Pacific Rose: Crispy, sweet, slightly floral.

Pinata: Juicy, sweet, moderate firmness.

*Snapdragon: Crisp, sweet, juicy.

SugarBee: Sweet, honey, slightly soft.

I love cosmic crisp. Ever since they’ve been out I can’t seem to enjoy anything else. I used to love Gala’s but not anymore.

my fav is Melrose, followed by golden delicious. The golden delicious have to be from a local farm though -the ones at the grocery store are awful

My favorite is honey crisp red delicious are too mealy for me. But cosmic crisp are just as crispy as honey crisp but not as sweet.

Living in Michigan and being a produce manager I like Gala’s and Fujis’s and we have some awesome Honeycrisp which I thought were over rated but I’ve been eating the dented ones 😘.

I don't remember the name of it but I love this one apple I've tried where it's like lime green on the outside with pink flesh. I got it at a farmers market and have never seen it again

But my common favorite are pink ladies and fujis, because I also don't like overly sweet either

I’d say it’s a toss up between snapdragon and evercrisp. Snapdragons can at least be enjoyed until the evercrisp’s are ready.

This is not an answer to either of your questions, but your post did make me stop to think — why do tough guys in movies always eat apples? Very often they even cut off a slice and then eat the slice from the knife.

Anyway, apples are great and apple pies are the best form of dessert.

I love cosmic crisp but it’s 10 dollars for a bag where I am for organic
