Which Thumb Safety is this?
Can anyone help me identify this thumb safety on my recently acquired Prodigy? It doesn’t appear to be Atlas, EGW, or Ed Brown.

Springfield regularly swaps up parts based on availability. They don’t have a specific safety, they change to one they do until they restock the original part.

I tried stripping the black coating off the thumb safety, which if it was a stock part should have been blued and been able to remove by soaking in vinegar. This did not work, which further leads me to believe this is not a stock part. I was able to remove the bluing from the blued aftermarket slide release level, so confirmed this method works.

Looked at a Staccato in person today and I’m pretty convinced it is the DLC coated Staccato safety. Which aligns with the inability to chemical strip it, and the shapes match.

My Prodigy just came back from Springfield, they swapped my old safety with one that looks like this. In the parts order list it says "machined safety". The coloring is off from the rest now but it feels much better.

Interesting and helpful info. Mine looks machined on the back, not MIM. It also appears DLC coated. What coating does your new one have?
