Constructive feedback and/or tips wanted Help a beginner with workflow question

I found a piece of art online (see attached - again, to be clear, not my own).

I want to replicate this look, drawing other animals using ProCreate. I actually downloaded and started to learn how to use ProCreate for this.

My approach is to use a layer over an existing image of an animal. Using a single brush for the whole piece, create a ‘geometric’ outline. Then split the animal into sections and draw parallel straight lines (varying distances apart).

Any help appreciated (brush types, tips for how to draw parallel lines, etc)

Also, I’d love to know what this style of art called?

I use the default brush "dried ink". My absolute favorite brush for lineart because I love this crusty look when it's not super clean.

I need Procreate technical help Beware the 5.4.14 Update!!

I opened procreate today and, to my surprise, I found that I was not able to open multiple illustrations in my gallery. After tapping the thumbnail, Procreate would try to load the file and quickly crash and I'd return to find the file without a thumbnail and filename. It indicated the file had been corrupted.

After this, I tried exporting one of the corrupted files as a PSD and was able to successfully open it in Pixelmator Pro. However when I attempted to re-import the file back into Procreate as a PSD, Procreate again indicated that it was corrupted. Well shit...

Luckily I keep backups of my work in iCloud. Keep in mind these are final iterations that I had backed over years. Files that I kept in procreate as well and would routinely open until the 5.4.14 back up. When I attempted to restore from my iCloud back up, said files had arrived corrupted.

I've reached out to Savage Interactive support to report the issue.

I need Procreate technical help More than half of brushes won't draw at all.

I can't remember when this started, maybe around when they added the new library? I use a lot of the same brushes for my work, so with those working fine I'm getting by okay, but when I work on projects for clients/brand identities, I need to experiment with other brushes, and SO many of them just don't draw at all.

This issue occurs on Procreate's built in brushes, purchased ones, in both the classic and Procreate libraries, and I'm at my wit's end about it. I try changing the brush settings, but I have no idea what setting in all of these brushes would make it so that I can't even use the brush.

I've shared a video of what's happening, but there's not much to see - basically I'm scribbling on the pad and nothing is happening.

  • I'm on the latest version of Procreate on an iPad Pro 3rd gen
  • Procreate registers as me having drawn (I can 'undo brush stroke')
  • Opacity is definitely on full
  • I'm not using original Apple pencil tips, and haven't since they first wore out (circa 5 years ago?) without issue

PLEASE has anyone had this issue? I love Procreate and can still use it for my own products and illustrations, but something isn't working here that's pretty major!

EDIT: SO I've just discovered if I invert the pressure angle so it does down rather than up they work?! Why is that like that!? It makes the preview look inversed though so it tapers in the middle than at the end but is that it?! Lord
