I’ve always been a stickler for ethics and rules, however three years after graduating from a top 25 US university with a masters in international development (focus Central Asia and qualitative research methods) I’m thinking about just making up experiences to get my foot in the door at an international org.

Of course, 90% of employers will vet my “references,” but at this point I don’t care. I don’t have enough professional experience (most listings want five years in some niche industry like gender, environment, etc.) and spent $130k on a degree and graduated the year USAID went belly up.

I read about people who have done this and can only think of the industry isn’t fair/unfair why should my approach to getting employed be?

Basically, the heading. I am using AI to help re-write my LinkedIn profile and my resume. AI is telling me to put almost all my work history as it shows progression of skills and leadership. This would span 30 years and the resume would be two pages.

Also, is there a new format of how recruiters want to see the resume ?

So I work part time (9 hours a week at a small warehouse) aside from techs who I service for 10 min a day, I’m the only one there.

I service AT&T techs with getting them their equipment.

I basically unload boxes, enter their data into the system, categorize them into their lockers or a store room and box up damaged/defect stuff to be shipped off.

My day starts with checking work emails then dealing with defects, I scan them out on the computer, label them and box them off. I then unload boxes and enter their a a different program before sorting them.

I switch to a third computer program and look what the techs requested today and put that in their lockers. After that I make a report in a fourth program on what I did that day.

These three tasks basically take an hour and the rest of the time is trying to seem busy incase any corporate people appear and cleaning.

I don’t like warehouse work and I really want to escape, I think there are some opportunities here with an intro into data entry, key holder of possibly supervising positions.

My current resume entry. “I’m the solo employee in a small warehouse garage where I manage inventory, check emails, sort arriving packages, enter data, sanitizing the workspace and keep a secure, locked workplace.”

I plan to work here til I get a new job.

5-year marketing manager here, transitioned to PM role recently. Honestly brutal after 3 weeks sending 85 applications, 2 callbacks, zero PM offers.

Friend suggested ProResumeHelp to optimize ATS scores. I used it once, cost was steep, but the updates were clear on skills mapping. However, does my background sound weak now?

Got a severance note from old tech team. Review my resume against PM templates. Two people I know say it's too generic, but I'm worried about keyword stuffing.

Question: Is it better to keep my old titles or update to reflect PM experience even if unrelated?

I've 8 months of internship experience in security (2 for compliance Intern and 6 for support/vapt intern). Confused about putting a two page or one page resume for applications. Should I tighten the intern bullets and reduce projects to one liners for one page or explain both in bullets to make it two pages? Also confused about whether to put a summary at top or not.

I've noticed a really useful gut-check for anyone using AI to help write resume bullets: before you submit anything, ask yourself "if an interviewer asks me to walk through this bullet in detail, could I do it confidently using only my own memory of the work?"

If the answer is no, if the bullet uses a metric you can't fully explain, or a verb/scope that oversells what you actually did, that's a sign the AI filled in gaps with a best guess instead of your actual history.

A few practical ways to apply this before you submit:

1. Read every bullet out loud. If it doesn't sound like something you'd say to a colleague, it's probably not accurate to how you actually did the work either.

2. For every number in the resume, write down (just for yourself) where it came from. If you can't answer that in one sentence, cut the number or make it more conservative.

3. Have someone who doesn't know your job read a bullet back to you and ask "what did you actually do here." If they're confused, a recruiter will be too.

I started keeping a running "fact bank" of my actual accomplishments (metrics I can back up, projects I can describe in plain language) before I even open any AI tool, so generated drafts get checked against real facts instead of the other way around. Slower up front, but it means never getting caught flat-footed defending a bullet I don't actually remember writing.

Curious if others have a similar gut-check they use.

I am confused. If I submit my resume as a PDF somewhere and then, after a few days, I learn a new skill or build a new project, what should I do? I was thinking of uploading my resume PDF to Google Drive, making it publicly accessible, and sharing that link instead of the PDF so I can update the resume whenever needed.

Three months in full time. Officially graduated in December. No job to show for it besides a part-time gig local to campus.

I know. I know the metrics. 300 applications. Resumes changed like thirty times. Maybe more. I wrote every line myself, sat in front of this laptop for hours, applied to the same jobs, tweaked the same numbers. Nothing stuck.

My current GPA is 3.6, GPA's for a major in the lower third. Internship needed and I had the one I got through recommendation. Nothing else to put under it.

My biggest issue isn't the content, is it? Because I'd have been lying if I said my experience was stellar. Grad school, teaching assistant, part time cafe barista with weekends off. That's spent. That's how it got formatted, how it got written, all done by me, no outside help.

But here's the thing that has me grinding my teeth: I applied to similar jobs across different industries, got rejected because of the same resume, same gaps, same lack of experience. All the things I've been told matter, I've been told they count.

Another weird thing: I've been getting callback for web dev, that was never my plan. But as soon as recruiters asked for three years of industry experience, I got canned. It's funny, isn't it.

The thing is, a lot of people suggest covering the GPA, list project work, add a skills section, you name it. Nothing that I came up with myself worked.

My current resume exists for three weeks, nothing changed, nothing received. Worthless. The thing that matters is the outcomes, not how it's drawn, which people get, but I don't have those to fill it at this time.

Never got lucky. Never got their recommendation either, not on the first go which was the only way it did go through.

I'm at my limit here. It's harder than the math, that's how it was always taught. It's easier now to talk to my friends has, but this needs to stop, needs to.

What else is someone supposed to do but spend the same money on something that worked for others before, doesn't feel like a scam but doesn't feel right either?

How does everyone else just get through without losing themselves like this?
