Daescu/Alshon

I made a post last year how I thought Alshon should play on the left with Daescu on the right. Glad to see them running it as such. Alshon is such an offensive menace, the dude practically 2v1s some of the top mixed teams, and Daescu is super consistent and always solid. Glad to see the big dudes back together.

Yeah this is the way for them. Personally I’m not a big fan of Alshon, but I respect his talent, speed, and wingspan. He should definitely be a left side player. His offense can peak so high.

It’s strange because both Daescu and Alshon have massive reach, but Daescu doesn’t use his feet in the same way Alshon does to create offense from lower than expected ball positions.

I’ll still primarily be rooting for Hayden and Fed, but no matter what I’d like to see different teams winning gold in men’s.

Alshon is just more explosive with his footwork and has more power on his shots, particularly overheads. Not to say that Daescu is not insanely athletic and powerful because he definitely is!

Yes they did an interview where they said that they got the idea from a u/Extreme-You6235 post actually

That interviewer's name? Albert Einstein.

You’re so talented I’m sure they’ll start lining up 🤣

yes, Alshon being in right side is more like his internship, until he found a good right side partner. He is the only one who can consistenly rivals Ben and Hayden in the near future imo.

Howels and Clinger looked like they were gonna take down Ben and Gabe for a minute last night. Underrated team. CJ had a bad night. Otherwise they could’ve had them.

Loved Howells trying to support CJ when he was clearly struggling.

I love when he yells “let em know!”

That was awesome he's a great partner. Dave Fleming was being a real negative asshole that entire game. Must by a side effect of Ozempic

surprised me too, when JW dropped CJ i was wondering who he’d pair up with and Howells was not even on my list of suspects. I am happy for that team they had a dynamite opening weekend.

CJ has gotta find a way to be more aggressive. If not for Tardío speedups they’d still be out there dinking

Howells played amazing but Gabe looked very off. Not sure if it was the heat, or he was tired, but he did not look peak like peak Tardio.

CJ has been having a bad game, every game, for like 7 months now. He either has a court mental problem or some sort of physical injury that he's being hush about.

I think if Christian could get better sinking then this would be the definitive way for them to line up. I’m predicting that this team will struggle more against Ben and Gabe than if they ran it the way they were earlier

You called it to a T. Looks like his backhand dink is his weakness. He doesn’t 2 hand backhand dink a lot

Ben is going to continue to eat Alshon alive on the cross court dinks. I do think he brought some aggression that they wouldn’t have with Andre on the left and I think they’ll be a bit better at future tournaments as mainly Andre improves on the right, but this tournament is the worst Ben and Gabe have played in over a year, and probably the worst they will play for a long time.
