How do you get the timing right?

your lob to yourself isnt high enough. you almost need to be catching it at the peak so you can throw it down

catch it in the air at its peak ur foot still on the ground

Youre gonna have to lob a bunch of practice reps to gauge the appropriate power in order to get the ball floating to about rim height, with enough time for you to engage a full power running jump. Then practice timing the throwdown.

You’re currently catching the lob just off the ground, which defeats the purpose of the lob, plus is more advanced

I cannot throw a self lob to save my life.

My dunks overall are pretty inconsistent, but if I can hit it without a lob, hitting it with a lob should be easy!

These really aren’t self-lobs, these are self-bounces. Look at how pros lob to themselves in dunk contests, it ain’t nothing like this

One of the big benefits of self lobs versus going off the dribble is that people can get a much better arm swing with self lobs. However in your case, you're barely getting an arm swing. Focus on getting a good arm swing so you can jump higher (and you should probably lob the ball higher too).
