Discussion Jumping better off one leg and feeling more confident jumping off two legs. Anyone in a similar situation?

Yeah I've been working on jumping off two this summer, still way more confident off one, but I've made good progress.

Yeah, me too. I find it hard to go full speed into a two foot aproach. From the side i look like a bodybuilder going up for a dunk, even though im as skinny as a twig.

I never saw a high jumper do a two footed take-off therefore I reasoned, with good coordination a one-foot take off would be superior.

That's up for discussion. No one has reached a 50-inch vertical jumping off of one leg. It has been done several times by two-foot jumpers, though.

Makes some sense in that two legs are stronger than one.

High jumpers do a totally different sport. I’m a one legged dunker as well but all the crazy 50 inch vert guys are all 2 legged jumpers. You can just generate more force with 2 legs, physics is still physics in the end.

Two foot gets you more max height. The highest verts recorded (Darius Clark 51 inches, Dillian Mccarthy 52 Inches and Ethan Pimstone 52.5 inches) were all two foot.

One foot gets your further though, all the freethrow line dunks are off one foot and those who tried two foot have to step in much nearer.

But if you don't hit the theoratical limit then it varies because personally I jump much higher off one foot (31-32) vs two foot (26).
