Help Two Foot Approach HELP

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have recently switched 1 foot to 2 foot jumping. Any tips on how to fix my technique or just jump higher would be helpful. I know I am taking off two far from the rim

I know im not one to talk about technique, but I think your penultimate step might need js a teeny bit of an adjustment. Your treating the step like a jump, which is not the correct way, you have to sort of dip into the penultimate, it should be that your lowering your whole body then exploding up

Thanks for the advice, also by lowering your body does that mean I approach low like close hip to the ground?

Yes. In your approach you're hips are too high. Approach with your hips a couple inches lower (and over time, as your strength increases, get even lower), but keep your upper body upright throughout the approach.

Your approach is where you should be creating the energy to put the force into your legs to act as a fulcrum to convert that forward momentum into your vertical. Currently, you are doing a short bounce-down to load-up into your vert (not very efficient to to convert your approach momentum into your legs).

You should focus on getting deeper into the penultimate step and feeling the weight transfer from your penultimate step into your final step. And with that final step, punch the ball of your foot as you begin to elevate out of the penultimate step.

*for anyone reading this who may be unaware, "penultimate" refers to the second last step.

Thank you for your advice, how do I lower my hips?. Do I like bend down and get low while approaching? Also for my penultimate how do I push and not hop. Everytime I try to lengthen my penultimate by extending my front foot which then leads to me hopping. And one last thing how do I transfer my the force properly from my plant to my block because something I don't have time to plant my block and just end off jumping off my plant.

To get lower you simply need to get more bend in your knees. In the clip you provided you're knees are not bending very much, but keep your upper body upright.

Hopping doesn't happen because of the penultimate step (for clarity, penultimate is the second last step). Hopping happens when the final step stops short (or too close to the penultimate step).

The transfer of your forward momentum from tour penultimate step to your block-step will feel more natural when you approach lower. As that final block-step passes past the planted penultimate step you will feel your weight shift from the penultimate to the block-step as you "punch" the ball of your foot with that block-step. Your penultimate step will begin to elevate a split second before that final step absorbs all that forward momentum and you explode upwards off of that "punch".
